Men's weekend at Kincraig (August 2014)

Thirteen men of varying ages from Pencaitland Parish Church and Ormiston Church proceeded to descend on the Kincraig Christian Centre at the end of August for a weekend of fellowship (talking, eating cake, drinking tea and coffee and playing table tennis!) This was our 5th time at the centre and the weather was kind to us again. We were all able to enjoy the beautiful countryside on the Saturday with some of the group doing a low level walk to the beautiful emerald green loch An Lochan Uaine and onto the Ryvoan Bothy for a spot of lunch before returning back to the Glenmore Lodge. The other group descended up a rather breezy Fiacaill ridge to the plateau south of Cairngorm. The summit of Cairngorm was reached and then we enjoyed ‘welcome refreshments at the Ptarmigan Restaurant before the descent to the car park.

During the weekend we were delighted to have Derek Lamont - the minister from St Columba’s Free Church in Edinburgh as our speaker on the Saturday evening. Derek happened to be Nic and Martha Middlemiss's former minister and he challenged us all on how to be effective Christian men in our faith and actions - very challenging. Derek was a fabulous speaker and really lovely chap (also a pretty good table tennis player!) We all enjoyed getting to know him better over the weekend.
