Rachel Barr's fundraiser for her gap year with Scripture Union (10 April 2015)
On Saturday 10 April, local people gathered in the Carriage House to enjoy some fabulous home baking. The event was organised by 17 year old Rachel Barr to raise funds for her forthcoming gap year with Scripture Union. There was also a sale of nearly new clothes and books. £450 was raised for which we thank everyone who supported the event.
Rachel enjoys an active role at Church and has a heart for youth work, regularly leading games and teaching with music and drama.
Rachel decided to do a gap year with SU Scotland when she felt God leading her to serve Him by sharing His love with others. She sees this as a great chance to learn from experienced Christians too. Rachel is excited about using drama to follow her calling. She's also looking forward to new experiences, living away from home and gaining some independence. Rachel hopes that over the coming year with SU, her faith and confidence will continue to grow as she learns to depend on God for all her needs, big and small.
On Gap:foolproof Rachel will be placed with Foolproof Creative Arts based in Central Scotland. She will have the opportunity to perform in schools, churches and local communities across the country. She will also help to lead the SU Drama Holiday at Lendrick Muir and hopefully end her year by performing in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
To support and encourage Rachel, you can make a donation, by credit/debit card or set up a standing order at www.suscotland.org.uk/give or call the Supporter Care Team on 0141 352 7628 (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm) quoting, "Rachel Barr gap year support". Alternatively, you can send a cheque to Scripture Union Scotland, Finance Department, 70 Milton Street, Glasgow G4 0HR. Please ask to be added to the list of folk who'd like to receive Rachel's prayer letters over the course of her gap year so that she has as much prayerful support as possible.
Thank you!
